The Photo-facial light pulse is directly absorbed by the pigment in the lesion. The light heats the pigment and breaks it up. The lesion darkens and crusts after treatment and is naturally shed from the skin after approximately ten days. Photo-facial light pulses heat the small capillaries that cause telangiectasia, rosacea and other vascular lesions. The heat shrinks these capillaries, which may redden or become gray after treatment. They then fade from view after approximately ten days.

Photo-facial uses a unique long pulse width that delivers energy to the skin over a relatively long period of time without overheating the skin. This makes the pulses safer and more comfortable. You may experience a feeling similar to that of a rubber band being snapped on the skin, but most people do not report this sensation as painful. You may experience temporary redness and a mild “sunburn”- like effect that may last a few hours to a few days.  Sunspots/Sun Damage: the sunspots will darken after the treatment and be naturally shed from the skin within 1-2 weeks.  With Rosacea clients the skin tone will typically benefit from less pronounced redness within a week after treatments.  Spider Veins: Vessels disappear after treatment or they may appear darker and then full or partially fade within 10-14 days.  Typically, a few visits will be necessary to treat sunspots, rosacea, and vessels.  The Palomar also can be used for clearing up acne.

The Photo-facial can be done on most areas, except directly around the eyes.  The face, neck, chest, arms, back, and legs can all be treated.  The clinician will move the handpiece over your skin, pulsing it all the while.  Each pulse will send a beam of light through your skin.  A flashing light, an audible tone, and a mild sensation on the skin will tell you when the handpiece is being pulsed.
